Caffe Crema @ Plaza Mont Kiara & Jeq In The House @ PJ Section 17

Checking out a couple of cosy new cafes, both warm & woodsy, starting with Caffe Crema at Plaza Mont Kiara.

Lots of stylish touches, from the reclaimed-wood furnishing to the vintage R&B music flowing out of the vinyl record player. Caffe Crema is situated next to the Number76 hair salon; a newly formed collaboration between both businesses means that Number76's customers can order coffee from Caffe Crema & enjoy it at the salon.

Caffe Crema relies on beans from Singapore's Oriole roasters, with two signature blends currently offered; check with the barista for details when ordering. Caffe Crema's founders say this place is meant to provide a distinctive experience for customers, who can even personally brew their coffee themselves here with the cafe's moka pot - Caffe Crema is expected to be recognised soon as an official Bialetti espresso maker outlet.

Organic tea is available too, in varieties like Orchid Vanilla, Ginger Lemongrass & White Ginger Pear (RM10.90 each).

Caffe Crema promises to showcase cakes & other F&B products by local entrepreneurs - we see Smooshie!

The next neighbourhood newbie: Jeq In The House at Section 17 in Petaling Jaya.

Very spacious & comfortable; love the string instruments tucked in various corners. Trivia: According to staff members, there's no specific person called Jeq in the cafe, but the name is currently meant to refer to the lovely ladies working here - when we visited recently, the cafe comprised an all-female service team.

Jeq In The House is currently in a soft-launch stage; coffee & cakes are available, with light snacks like chicken wings & sausages. A more ambitious menu should be offered by next month; wine is served, but only by the bottle so far.
