UnionJac Pop @ The School, Jaya One

A new pop-up cafe that offers macarons crafted by a chemistry lecturer & coffee tackled by a tournament-winning barista.

UnionJac Pop is part of a retail space at Jaya One's The School section where everything from scarves, children's accessories & camera pouches to eucalyptus oil, yoga mats & handmade greeting cards produced by independent entrepreneurs is available.

If the name UnionJac sounds familiar, it would be for these macarons; Jaclynn Ng has been making them for some time now, selling them through online orders & at places including EspressoLab branches. UnionJac Pop marks her first physical store.

The selection spans Musang King Durian (RM6 per piece) & lower-priced alternatives like Passion Fruit & Chia Seeds, Salted Caramel, Earl Grey, Rose & Lychee, Madagascar Vanilla & Pistachio (mostly RM4.50 each). Creamy, dense & strong-flavoured.

Coffee's by Cheryl Lee or her team members (ours was enjoyable, prepared by part-time barista, full-time accountant Kim).

UnionJac Pop shares a showcase with The Red Cherry, an F&B section dedicated to some of the tastiest Malaysian brands, including Smooshie pure fruit juices ...

... & Mangolicious jams & chutneys. UnionJac Pop is open 1030am-630pm, while The Red Cherry runs 1030am-10pm.
