Founded by three longtime friends Dinesh, Sam & Reagan, Eighty9 telegraphs a sense of playful personality through its menu - bak-kut-teh-inspired pork ribs with herbal nuances come paired with sour Chinese cabbage & pan-fried mushrooms in a neat twist on BKT (RM29), while a cream of watercress soup with salty-smoky dynamics (RM9) & deep-fried dumplings stuffed with crab meat, crab sticks & house-made citrus-laced ricotta cheese (RM12) deliver interesting reinterpretations of flavours that'll feel both familiar & fresh; wash down with a sawi-nanas blended beverage or wine.
